Security flaws can affect all kinds of applications, operating systems, device firmware, and so on. When this happens, fixing them as soon as possible is key. In this case, we’re reporting on a flaw affecting Google Chrome. If an attacker exploits it, they can use it to spy on you. We’ll explain what it is and what you should do to protect yourself and avoid problems.

This is a zero-day vulnerability, and Google has just patched it. It has been rated as highly critical, as it can be exploited to introduce malware and spyware. It can affect organizations, but also home users. Whenever a flaw of this type appears, it’s crucial to act as quickly as possible.

Vulnerability in Chrome

The vulnerability has been registered as CVE-2025-2783. It was discovered by a group of security researchers at Kaspersky. They report that an exploit exists for this flaw. Now, Google has fixed the problem with a global update for the stable version of the most widely used browser in the world today.

At this time, Google hasn’t shared any further details about this vulnerability. This is common, as it would provide clues to hackers who want to exploit the issue. What they have indicated is that they have exploited this vulnerability in attacks. A cybercriminal could sneak malware onto a victim’s device.

This vulnerability is reportedly being actively exploited in phishing attacks. Attackers essentially redirect victims to malicious websites. While it’s primarily used in campaigns against organizations, it can also be exploited against home users.

It’s worth remembering that Google patched a total of 10 zero-day vulnerabilities during 2024. So, it’s not that unusual to see. It’s very important to fix them as soon as they’re detected to keep devices secure at all times.

Fix the problem

So, what can you do to fix the problem? In this case, it’s as simple as updating your browser. This affects Windows users and requires installing version 134.0.6998.178. This can be done automatically or manually. In the latter case, you can speed up the process and also make sure you have that version installed.

To update it manually, go to the top right menu, select Help, and click About Google Chrome. It will automatically show you which version you have installed and, if necessary, update it. You’ll be able to see if your version matches the one you need to fix this vulnerability.

Beyond keeping Google Chrome updated, it’s also essential to be careful with the extensions you install. Always make sure you download them from official sources. However, we recommend only installing those you’re actually going to use, as this can pose an added risk.

In short, beware of this security issue affecting Google Chrome. Fortunately, you can easily fix it by updating your version. You can also configure the browser to prevent viruses.
