YouTube is testing a controversial new feature that users dislike.

YouTube has just launched a new feature, and users aren’t happy about it. Google’s platform has been testing new features for months aimed at maintaining its relevance and trying to keep users from looking up to social networks like TikTok, where short videos abound. Among these new features is the ability to autoplay videos.

Some users are experiencing YouTube’s latest development and have expressed their complaints on Reddit, in the platform’s dedicated forum. The situation is so serious that complaints are constantly growing, and of course, it’s a truly controversial development. YouTube’s reliance on autoplay is a problem for the user experience.

Autoplay comes to YouTube and users hate it

The complaints are constant, and they all offer the same feeling: this new feature “is the most annoying feature I’ve ever seen.” Many users indicate that it may be a malfunction in the app, but this is strange because many have tried everything to prevent it from happening.

Deleting the app or clearing data doesn’t prevent YouTube from automatically playing videos. In fact, even if you log out of the linked profile, the situation persists. Complaints indicate that it doesn’t make much sense to open the YouTube app on your phone and have a random video start playing.

The situation seems to have reached a point where there are divided opinions within the discussion, with some users indicating that this feature is a new feature YouTube is experimenting with. This doesn’t mean that all users are affected by this new feature, but it is a significant number of people.

The other group seems to be clear that it’s not a feature and, on the contrary, is simply a bug affecting the group of users who raised the alarm. It is, however, difficult to be clear about what’s happening with the YouTube mobile app; in fact there’s conflicting information.

It has been reported that a user has spoken to the YouTube support profile and the response was:

“I’ve reviewed my resources, and yes, this is an experimental feature . Feel free to share your feedback via our feedback tool: yt.be/help/feedback.”

For now, we’ll have to keep a close eye on the supposed new feature YouTube has prepared, which isn’t convincing users. Constant complaints may lead to this feature not being integrated into the overall platform experience, but only time will tell what plans YouTube has for this feature.
