Recently, those from Cupertino have made the iOS 18.4 update available to most users, which includes new features and, above all, new capabilities driven by artificial intelligence.

While some users are cautious and prefer to wait before downloading and installing these updates, there are others who waste no time and install them as soon as they’re available.

Well, if you’re one of those who went ahead with the update, you’ve probably noticed battery drain on your iPhone after installing iOS 18.4.

You are not alone, there are a multitude of complaints on social networks like X, where people have kept complaining about this update of the iOS and it seems to affect iPhone’s battery life

However, user @OldAppleTech notes that the battery life after the update “is absolutely horrendous.”

Others added that iOS 18.4 “is terrible. Before updating, the battery was at 87%, then 79% after. It’s crazy.”

A user noted that the iPhone battery drains so quickly that “I’m basically on a three-charge-a-day plan.”

Finally, another user also commented that they should “stop updating iOS, as it only reduces battery life.”

It should be noted that it is quite common for the battery to perform worse than expected for the first few days after an operating system update.

This is due to the various recalibration issues that require additional power after installing the update.

Software changes can take hours or even days to complete, running in the background, so if you notice that your iPhone has worse battery life now after updating to iOS 18.4, wait a couple of days.

In any case, if after these two days, you see that the iPhone battery is worse than before after the update, it is a good idea to check the maximum battery capacity from the iOS settings.

When it’s time to change the battery, iOS will notify you with a message in the battery settings area, so you’re aware.
