At the MWC show in Barcelona, Lenovo was once again one of the main attractions, unveiling multiple PCs and concepts with screens that fold in two or three, as well as computers that charge with solar energy.

Last year, it was the transparent PC. The year before that, a computer and a smartphone with a screen that wraps around the wrist. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Spain), the big mobility show, taking a look at the Lenovo stand is always a good opportunity to appreciate the know-how of the R&D teams.

And they are not idle. As early as January and the CES in Las Vegas, the Chinese brand had already pulled out all the stops by showing a now marketable version โ€“ but for professionals โ€“ of its PC with an extendable screen. We had also discovered a computer screen that could pivot on itself to follow your lateral movements, but also adjust in height to the person in front of its webcam. For 2025, Lenovo has multiplied the new features with a guaranteed “wow” effect.

And the star of this year is the Thinkbook Flip. Still in the very advanced concept stage, this laptop already seems ready for adventure. It presents itself as a fairly thin laptop, but strangely topped with a double thickness of screen. And for good reason, what appears to be two panels folded on themselves allows to obtain an 18.1-inch OLED screen once unfolded.

According to Lenovo, this device responds to a new approach to hybrid work, with a much larger work area that can also respond to more user-friendly or exchange uses in an ultra-compact format.

Because the Thinkbook Flip goes from a 13-inch format with a sort of dual screen (traditional above the screen and secondary on its back), it can in no time unlock the rear screen which then rises above the PC. The vertical mode can be practical for reading, corrections, internet browsing, or for writing lines of code. But it is also possible to use this folded screen in collaborative dual-screen mode or in a hybrid PC way with a tablet above for drawing.

Lenovo has already equipped its Thinkbook Flip with the essential AI through Copilot+ and especially because of the embedded Intel Core Ultra 7 processor (with 32 GB of memory) which can manage multiple use cases (productivity, creativity, photo editing, writing assistance, translation, etc.). AI knows how to anticipate needs and optimize performance in real time. And the device is not short on equipment with multiple Thunderbolt 4 ports and a fingerprint reader to unlock everything.

Yoga Solar, the end of battery worries

And the brand didn’t stop there. Lenovo came to Catalonia with multiple new concepts in its bag: a screen that unfolds in three without taking up too much space, a hinge that rotates 360ยฐ, and also a PC that recharges thanks to the sun.

The Yoga Solar promises to gain more than an hour of autonomy in video playback with 20 minutes of exposure to sunlight. This prototype works using Black Contact Cell technology. This is a large solar panel on the back that will capture light and convert 24% of it into battery power, a little more than conventional solar panels (15-20%). The PC then automatically adjusts the settings to optimize energy savings.

A technological feat, the Yoga Solar is also a top-of-the-range computer, equipped with a 14-inch OLED screen, a relatively light weight (1.22 kg), and a low thickness (1.5 cm) despite the solar panel. No availability date or price has been given.
