The South Korean multinational has officially announced the release date for the next major update for its phones and tablets. On April 7, a list of select compatible devices will be able to jump on the One UI 7 bandwagon, bringing new AI features and various system-wide improvements.

Samsung will begin rolling out the One UI 7 update starting April 7, the company announced Tuesday. The new version of the operating system will be distributed progressively via OTA update, starting with the latest smartphone and tablet models.

One UI 7, based on Android 15, brings significant changes to design, customization, and AI features. The interface has been completely revamped to facilitate more natural interaction with Galaxy devices. It also improves notification management, overall performance, and multitasking options.

One of the main new features is the expansion of support policies, with Samsung offering seven years of security and system updates, following Google’s example with its Pixel devices.

Additionally, and for the first time, One UI 7 will extend beyond mobile phones and tablets, reaching other brand products such as televisions and household appliances.

The update will initially be available for the following models:

  • Galaxy S24 and S24 FE
  • Galaxy S23 and S23 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6
  • Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5
  • Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S9 tablets

The rollout will be expanded to other devices in the coming months, they announced.

Big news

One UI 7 incorporates new AI-powered features that aim to make everyday use of Galaxy devices easier. Among its new features is the integration of the Now Bar, a tool that offers real-time information directly on the lock screen. This feature allows you, for example, to check your running progress or the song currently playing without having to unlock your phone.

The update also introduces improvements to Samsung’s AI interaction. AI Selection allows you to perform tasks such as extracting a video clip and converting it into a GIF quickly and easily. Meanwhile, Writing Assistant helps you summarize or format text directly from your device.

One UI 7 further expands creative options with tools like the Drawing Assistant, which makes it easier to create content by combining text, images, and sketches. Another notable feature is the Audio Eraser, which allows you to remove unwanted noise from videos, thus improving the sound quality of your recordings.

Artificial intelligence also improves voice interaction thanks to integration with Gemini, Google’s assistant. Users will be able to ask complex questions or receive personalized recommendations simply by speaking to the device. Additionally, natural language search is now available in the settings menu, allowing users to find options like eye comfort mode simply by describing a need.

The commitment to this major redesign of its system coincides with iOS 19, the next major update that Apple is preparing for iPhones and which, as they have commented, is also expected to mark a before and after in the user experience and aesthetics.
