The popular instant-messaging platform, Whatsapp, keeps updating to offer us all kinds of new features. And if you have an iPhone,ย you’ll soon be able to use WhatsApp as your default app for calls and text messages.

According to a report from WaBetaInfoa, a media outlet specialising in everything related to this instant-messaging platform, after updating WhatsApp to version 25.8.74, you will be able to change the default settings for messages and calls to WhatsApp.

Plus, the process is extremely simple and will take just a few seconds. We’re going to explain how to makeย WhatsApp your default messaging and calling app on your iPhone. This isย a feature required by EU regulations, but one that Apple promised would be available to everyone. And it seems the Cupertino-based company has kept its promise.

How to make WhatsApp your messaging and calling app on your iPhone

You might be wondering why you should change your default messaging and calling settings to WhatsApp on your iPhone. Keep in mind that if you choose this option, every time you tap a phone number on a website, you’ll automatically be redirected to make the call through WhatsApp. And if you tap the message button in your contacts list, instead of opening the official Apple app, you can send a WhatsApp message more conveniently.

Good news if you have an iPhone, especially considering how easy it is to select WhatsApp as your messaging and calling app.

  • โ€ข Open Settings on your iPhone
  • โ€ข Go to Applications
  • โ€ข Select Default Apps
  • โ€ข Look for the Messages and Calls option
  • โ€ข A list will open, you must select WhatsApp

Keep in mind that this is a global rollout, so it should be available to all users. However, it will likely take a few days to reach everyone. So, if you’re unable to change your default messaging and calling settings to WhatsApp on your iPhone, please be patient as this feature should arrive in the coming days.
