Errol Musk, the father of tech billionaire Elon Musk has called Tesla protesters “lazy” as the company’s share price continues to plummet.
Across the US and beyond, Musk’s electric vehicle brand has come under fire due to the tycoon’s recent controversial behaviour. In fact, a recent survey found that two-thirds of Americans now say they would not drive a Tesla.
During an interview with Sky News, Errol Musk addressed the backlash Musk has faced due to his actions as head of the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency,” also known as DOGE, and the impact it has had on Tesla’s sales and stock price.
Tesla vehicles have been vandalized, and some owners have even rebadged their own cars to try to prevent damage.
The tycoon’s father added:
“Listening to the bums who are trying to harm Tesla by vandalizing the cars… It’s just stupid. Nobody does that. If you user your brain… It tells you those people are the problem, not the cars.”
He also claimed that the anger towards his son is just “media hype” and dismissed any unrest among some Tesla investors.
The South African businessman suggested his son is doing “essential work” to benefit American taxpayers and denied that his controversial involvement in the U.S. government means he is stressed.
“He has more than enough capacity to do it. Don’t worry,” he said, adding, “There’s no problem at all.”
However, while some Tesla investors have called for the hiring of a new CEO, Musk may soon have more time to focus on his core business, as he hinted that his time as DOGE CEO could soon be coming to an end.
